In a statement released by her media office, Tallen said she is turning down her nomination because, her nomination did not follow due process. Her words:
“I hail from the same local government and tribe with Gov. Simon Lalong. I turned down the nomination because of balancing of appointments; I don’t think it is right for me to accept the appointment.
“Secondly, proper consultation was not done, my governor was not consulted; because I called him when he was in United States of America to ask but he said that he was not aware.
Tallen further stated that she was is also turning down her nomination because she needs time to take care of her ailing husband.
“I appreciated President Muhammadu Buhari for counting me worthy to serve Nigeria in the capacity of an ambassador,” she said. “However, I have to let it go to attend to my ailing husband. It is a hard decision to take, but I have to, because my husband is my primary responsibility as a woman.”
