The West African Examinations Council(WAEC) says it’s recently concluded Senior Secondary Certificate Examinations results will be released on July 19, 2017; barely 60 days after the examination was conducted.
A statement signed by the Head of Public Affairs, Damianus Ojijeogu, said this significant reduction in the 90 days result-waiting-period for previous examinations, is in keeping with WAEC’s resolution to improve on its service delivery to its stakeholders, which he says gave rise to the to the emergence of ‘Project 60’ in March 2017.
It would be recalled that the Head of National Office of the Council in Nigeria, Mr. Olu Isaac Adenipekun, instituted the project on March 16, 2017 during the 65th anniversary celebration of the establishment.
Adenipekun had explained then that, the project was an innovation designed by the management of the council in Nigeria to reduce the waiting period by the nation for the release of results of candidates from 90days to 60days after the conduct of the examination for this diet, and subsequently to 45 days in all West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) diets.
The statement further explained that, “Project 60 was a huge success in its maiden edition with the conduct, marking, processing and release of the results of the 2017 WASSCE, because all hands were on deck to ensure the achievement of this great feat.”
The Management of the Council in Nigeria thanked its staff, supervisors, invigilators, examiners and other ad-hoc personnel, “ for their dedication, selfless service and immense contributions during the conduct of the WASSCE for 2017 School Candidates, and the marking of the scripts of the examination that guaranteed the success of Project 60.”
